3 Florida Teens Facing Attempted Second-Degree Murder Charges

After being accused of setting another Florida teen on fire, three boys are facing adult charges Monday.

The three Florida teens, Jesus Mendez, Matthew Bent, and Denver Jarvis were charged Monday each with one count of attempted second-degree murder.

Jarvis, 15, allegedly poured rubbing alcohol on Michael Brewer, 15. Mendez, 16, is accused of lighting Brewer on fire and Bent, 15, of conducting the entire scheme.

The assault began after a disagreement over a video game then three teens then attempted to steal the father of the victim’s bike.

Brewer remains in critical condition after sustaining burns on over 65 percent of his body.
