6 February 2012 No Comment

SAN DIEGO — A DUI checkpoint at El Cajon Boulevard and 41st Street netted five arrests for suspected drunken driving on Sunday.  The operation went from 9:00 p.m.  until 12:45 a.m.  One motorist had his vehicle impounded at the checkpoint.  Along with the arrests for DUI one passenger was cited for throwing an alcohol container out of a car just before entering a drunken driving checkpoint.  971 vehicles went through the checkpoint.  Ten motorists total were evaluated for sobriety.  If you plan to drink alcohol, you should also plan a way to get home safely for your sake and for the sake of others. Use the following tips:

  • Plan a safe way home before the party begins.
  • Before drinking, designate a sober driver and leave your car keys at home.
  • If you’re impaired, use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member, or use public transportation.
