Five Arrested at DUI Checkpoint

SAN DIEGO — A DUI checkpoint at El Cajon Boulevard and 41st Street netted five arrests for suspected drunken driving on Sunday. The operation went from 9:00 p.m. until 12:45 a.m. One motorist had his vehicle impounded at the checkpoint. Along with the arrests for DUI one passenger was cited for throwing an alcohol container out of a car just before entering a drunken driving checkpoint. 971 vehicles went through the checkpoint. Ten motorists total were evaluated for sobriety. If you plan to drink alcohol, you should also plan a way to get home safely for your sake and for the sake of others. Use the following tips:
- Plan a safe way home before the party begins.
- Before drinking, designate a sober driver and leave your car keys at home.
- If you’re impaired, use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member, or use public transportation.
