Upland, CA –A former mayor of the city of Upland, John Pomierski, pleaded guilty to bribery charges on Thursday.  Pomierski, 58, extorted money and campaign contributions from businesses seeking permits and other city services.  The owners of an Upland nightclub, Chronic Cantina, and a medical marijuana cooperative, G3 Holistics, were asked to pay $70,000 for help getting the required permits to stay in business.  Another business owner asked Pomierski to tell the fire chief to wave the requirement of fire sprinklers in exchange for money.  Pomierski  “would demand money …
