San Diego — A former special education assistant at a San Diego elementary school was taken into custody on Sept. 18 at the San Ysidro border crossing for having child pornography on his laptop.  Adolfo Payan Chavez, 39, worked with children on a daily basis for about 10 years at Whittier Elementary School’s Learning Center.  Chavez helped students with special needs.  On Nov. 17 Chavez pleaded guilty to one count of transporting images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.  He could be sentenced to a maximum of 20 …
