Newport Beach, CA — A nursing home located in Newport Beach is contesting a citation it received from the state after a patient died when the staff failed to properly supervise the patient.  Newport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, located at at 1555 Superior Ave., was given the highest possible fine by the California Department of Public Health.  It received a Class AA citation and a $100,000 fine.  The incident in question occurred on Sept. 6 when an elderly woman who had dementia, osteoporosis and was recovering from hip replacement …
